JULY
July 4 - Independance Day Parade
Wednesday, July 4th is when Troop 839 will once again assist with clean up of the Kingwood 4th of July Parade route.
  • Meet at Creekwood Middle School parking lot at 8:30 AM.  See Mr. Elliot for the sign-in sheet.
  • Wear your full Class A uniform, bring a water bottle or two, and your Scout handbook.
  • Finish the parade route at the Kingwood High School student parking lot where Scouts should check out with me from this location.
  • There will be a lot of 'dead time' before the parade starts.  Scouts can use this time to demonstrate what you learned at Summer Camp and get some rank requirements signed off.
  • Your participation in this event counts as service hours towards rank advancements.

AUGUST
August 11th - Annual Planning Meeting
Saturday, Aug 11th is our Annual Planning Meeting for All Patrol Leaders and ASPLs.
  • The meeting will start at 9 AM and last until the program calendar has been completely filled out. Lunch will be provided.
  • All Patrol Leaders and ASPLs should plan to attend. If the Patrol Leader is not available, he should conduct the Assistant Patrol Leader to verify they can attend and if they can't, the Patrol Leader should appoint someone else from their patrol.
  • It is important that all the patrols are represented at this critical planning meeting.  Scouts will be asked for suggestions on camping locations, including summer camp, and programs, as well as merit badges for the 2018 - 2019 calendar.
  • Scouts not in a Patrol Leader (or SPL/ASPL) position should contact their Patrol Leader by July 31st to give their input for the 2018-2019 year.  Scouts should use multiple resources readily available (prior experience, scouting websites, discussion with parents, etc.) for ideas so that our Patrol Leaders can come to the meeting with their best ideas.

August 21st - Troop Committee Meeting
Tuesday, August 21st, at 7 PM is the Troop Committee meeting to approve the Scouting calendar.

August 27th - Ice Cream Social
Monday, August 27th, is our Annual Ice Cream Social at 7 PM and the start of our new scouting calendar.
  • This is a family event.  The 2018-19 program calendar will be rolled out at the meeting.
  • Also, our Troop Historian will share a year-in-review slide show that will remind us of all the fun we had in the first half of 2018.
